7 tips for taking the “Nearly perfect” photo for your feed.

If you are a small business owner, I’m sure you’re wearing multiple hats around the office/shop/restaurant. Taking visually appealing photos may not be at the top of your “to-do” list, but I’m sure you realize the importance. Especially when it needs to be on your social media, but many of us just don’t know how to do it well. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying “Done is better than perfect”, and while that is true, we want to give you a few inside tips for taking the “nearly perfect” photo for your feed.

1. Make sure your lens is clean

whether it’s your phone camera or an actual camera - nobody wants to look at a smudged photo.

2. Lighting, lighting, lighting.

Even a bad photo looks better in great lighting. You can play around with the lighting, this can make or break a photo.

3. Take a few shots from different angles.

Then pick your favorite. You don’t have to be super creative to take a unique photo, just have fun and try new things.

4. Take Candid shots of people.

Candid shots of people shopping, eating, drinking, and walking around your business. People love to see real-life photos so they can picture themselves at your place of business.

5. Go ahead and edit.

There’s nothing wrong with downloading an editing tool and using it to enhance your photo. Just don’t go crazy.

6. Photos of your staff.

Photos of your staff hard at work (but having fun) are always great to use, customers want to know who works there. Pro-tip: you can even spotlight one staff member per week.

7. Using a timer.

Using a timer can be a great way to take photos when you can’t get the angle correct, especially if you’re taking a selfie with customers. Prop your camera up and set the timer - you’ll get a much better outcome.
